[COMIC] New York: I just can’t quit you
Living in NYC is like being in a toxic relationship. It’s expensive, demanding, and sometimes downright exhausting… but you just can’t quit it.
This week’s comic is all about the love-hate relationship we have with this city. From the endless stairs (why are there so many stairs?!) to … well, the high rents. Okay, most weeks I just gush about NYC (see last week’s post) but I’m not too proud to admit it’s hard and I don’t know why it just keeps me hooked. It just does and that’s okay! Other people don’t have to justify their decisions to live in the town where they were born-and-raised, or where they landed, so I won’t try now.
I hope you enjoy my comparison of NYC to a toxic partner!
I can admit living here can be tough, but whenever I leave New York I feel pulled right back and I work to celebrate this town and find the magic. And while most nights I sit at home watching TV as the boys ask for endless glasses of water, I can also randomly go to a Broadway show mid-week, as I’m doing with a friend tonight. Living here is a give and take.
Sometimes it’s really nice to think things through in doodles rather than writing. Here’s to finding the humor—and the love—in wherever we call home.
